This Is Why You Struggle To Stay Consistent

A step-by-step process to stay ruthlessly consistent with anything you do

For my entire life up to 17 years old, I LOVED VIDEO GAMES.

Especially First Person Shooters.

The art of pixel perfect shots. Beautiful game sense. Learning the keyboard like the back of my hand…

There’s this one game I couldn’t stop playing (over 7,500 hours IN-GAME).

I was addicted to getting better. Repeating the same “boring” movements thousands of times. Every. Single. Day.

This made me catch on…

“What am I enjoying here? The game, or the fact I’m taking action on wanting to become world-class?”

The war against Mastery…

A war against mastery is a war against humanity.

Mastery is a non-negotiable.

Yet in this day & age, it's seen as a burden.

Think back to old times... Guilds, blacksmiths, artists. They LOVED what they did. Dedicating entire lives to a single craft.

They found purpose in pursuit of greatness.

Younglings would apprentice under masters for decades so they could become masters themselves.

HOW COOL IS THAT?!

Nowadays, people expect something, for nothing.

They want the climax without the climb up. But what they don't realize is the climax only exists thanks to the suspene that precedes it.

Stop expecting and start creating

Most people think success looks like this.

You probably do to right?

I was in the same boat… But you couldn't be further away from the truth. And due to that, you have wrong expectations (this is what leads to quitting).

What success truly looks like is: initial growth, followed by a long plateau, then a quick spurt of growth, then a long plateau, over & over…

There is no "quick method".

I was mind blown the first time I understood this. All those spurts of excitment followed by quitting now made sense.

Has this ever happened to you?

You have initial excitment for a project, niche, or business model. You see good progress in the first 1-2 weeks, but everything slows down. It doesn't feel "natural" anymore.

You say "Maybe this is isn't for me" then repeat the cycle.

I bet it has right?

‣ You can't trust yourself to succeed
‣ You struggle to find enjoyment in hard work
‣ You end the day thinking you could have done more

Stop thinking this means you’re doing something wrong. Start seeing it as a sign that you’re on the right path.

I LOVE this tweet.

“This is what hard feels like”

The awesome thing about plateau’s is finally understanding what gets people to quit. So ALL you have to do, is not quit.

I know that's easier said than done... But you've tried the easy route. Did that work out for you? Are you where you want to be?

I don't think so.

So what options do we have?

A = The easy route with no dreams come true
B = The hard route with all dreams come true

I know which one I'd choose.

It doesn't have to be boring...

There's one single thing you can do to make success inevitable.

No. That is not a typo.

This method will GUARANTEE you get the success you want, make the impact you dream of, and enjoy life the way you wanna enjoy it.

It’s "The Ultimate Package To The Good Life"

Here's the secret:

"The man who loves walking will walk further than the man who loves the destination. When you fall in love with the journey, everything else takes care of itself. Trip, fall, pick yourself up. Get up, learn, do it over again."

Goalless pursuit of mastery is key to enjoy life.

Paradoxically, that's where you'll put in the right amount of effort to achieve any kind of result you desire.

It's funny ey?

If you want to truly fall in love with life (AND get results). You need to ignore those results. Instead, make the work the goal, not a means to an end.

AKA: Focus less on results, get more; Focus more on results, get less.

Haha! I love how counterintuitive reality is. Always cracks me up.

It's lower than ever!

What's lower than ever?

THE BAR!!!

Walk down the stairs and you'll get your drink (I'm kidding haha)

The bar for effort is at it’s all time low.

90% of podcasts don’t make it past episode 3.

90% of those quit at episode 20.

All you need to do to be in the top 1% of podcasters is to make it past episode 21. That’s it. (This circles back to the war on mastery)

People don't know what effort IS anymore. The world is weak. To win, all you need is to be resilient and be the last man standing.

This is the power of mastery and goalless pursuit.

You fly past everyone else in a matter of months, then climb to the top 0.1% in a matter of 2-3 years.

The Mastery Enjoyment Process

I'm about to walk you through the exact method I used to go full-time online as a creator, get paid to write about what I love, all while finding deep fulfillment in my work.

Here we go:

Step 1. Discovering Values

Before mastering, you must know what to master.

Before knowing what to master, you must know what you enjoy.

Before knowing what you enjoy, you must know what your core values are.

But what are values?

Values are the core parts of reality you hold tight to.

For example, a few of mine are:

‣ Consciousness/Awareness
‣ Quality/Best work
‣ Nature

Let’s see how this makes for a unique brand (and life-enjoyment):

A value of yours is nature:

‣ You’d mention it in every story you tell of yourself
‣ It would be a core topic you bring back (over & over)
‣ You would post pictures of you in nature in threads to accompany the value you give.

Another might be Quality/Best Work:

‣ You’d constantly be an advocate for doing the best work you can do. You’d mention it in 90% of what you say.

Some other examples: Justice, Independence, Focus, etc...

You get the idea…

A purpose-based creator has 10 core values.

These 10 core values hold DEEP meaning to you. They get you out of bed in the morning and drive decision making. They are the core things you hold close to you.

They may be hidden at first, but uncovering them is how you fall deeply in love with life and remove any chance of procrastination.

This unique mix forms a style of content/tone/narrative that not a single other person online can copy from you. Your values are your edge.

(These values can be applied to any niche/topic)

Step 2. Floating In The Void

It's less lonely than it sounds... Trust me.

I want you to try meditating with NO GOAL.

‣ No goal for control
‣ No goal for improvement
‣ No goal for thoughts or emotions

Don't even have the goal of having no goal. Literally sit down with no care about anything in the world.

Set 10-15 minutes aside to just "be".

That's it.

I guarantee this will transfer over into your pursuit of mastery if you stay consistent with it (just remember to have NO GOAL).

Step 3. The Basics Rule

It's crazy how simple this is hahahhaha!

Literally EVERYONE talks about it. But because it's so well known, most take it for granted.

What am I on about?

THE BASICS!

‣ Good sleep
‣ Good healthy diet
‣ Daily walks in nature

They aren't named "basics" because they bring basic results. They are named the "basics" because they are the basics you should do to get results.

I've been on a dopamine detox for 3-4 weeks now (no cheap dopamine)...

AND MAN!

I FEEL SO AWESOME.

Rain makes me happy, the sun makes me ALIVE, simply being fills me with joy. Stop ignoring the world around you.

The cost of distraction is the life you could’ve lived.

Hope this post helps. As usual - I love you,

Euan
