How to quickly get out of a rut

It's so easy to fall fast... but there is a way back up...

It was Saturday morning...

I woke up like every other day (thank god lol), stretched, sat down, opened my laptop, and that's when it hit me... Something... felt off?

I couldn't exactly put my finger on it.

Everything felt more sluggish than usual, so I thought to myself:

"Ahhh, maybe I should take a break today"

I packed my bag.

Went into town.

Rang the doorbell to my mates house.

"Eyyyyy! Nice to see you dude!"

Keep in mind: I hadn't taken a break in a few months at this point, so it was really nice to catch up. But that's not all I did. We turned the TV on and started playing video games.

Sure... it was REALLY fun.

But all that dopamine after months of delaying gratification?

Ooof.

Anyway... the day went by super super fast... without realizing it, it was already 1 AM (yes. a whole day in front of the TV).

But here's where it got… complicated.

The next day I woke up and wanted more.

So I stayed another night. Then another. Then another.

And when I finally went home?

I started vaping again.

I didn't work much.

I binged netflix.

Ohhhhhhh Euannnn... Just last week you we're in the top 1% of productivity. How did you fall off so fast?!

You've been there too right?

The infamous rut.

I get it... it's not fun (AT ALL). You do all these cheap-dopamine activities, yet feel guilty because you ain't working. But you wanna know a secret?

DON'T feel guilty

Now you're like:

"HUUUHHHHH?! How could I not feel guilty Euan?! I'm throwing my life away into a box with moving pictures!"

But you must realize:

That feeling of guilt is what's keeping you down.

Sure it's not fun. Sure you could be doing more with your time. Sure you've been in your bed for 6 days.

But what do you think will be easier?

A - Getting back to work with massive amounts of guilt and negative emotions

B - Getting back to work in a positive mindset, excited to start building your ideal life

I know one which I'd choose.

You see... what’s keeping you in the rut you hate… IS the hate. The negativity. The being emotionally dependant upon seeing reality change.

Read that last sentence again...

"Emotionally dependant upon seeing reality change"

What do I mean by this?

I mean… you've got it all wrong!

You think you need to exit your rut in order to feel a certain way, but the truth of the matter is:

YOU NEED TO FEEL A CERTAIN WAY FIRST.

Carl Young say's it.
Joe Dispenza say's it.
Gregg Braden say's it.

Emotions ALWAYS come first (then action follows).

And the craziest part?

This doesn't only relate to your rut...

It relates to your progress. It relates to your learning. It relates to your relationships.

If something is going bad, it's because YOU are focused on that negative aspect, leading to more negativity coming your way.

Don't you realize it?

Look back at your entire life...

1. Something goes a tiny bit bad

2. You project into the future of that developping

3. Negative emotions rise up because of that projection

4. More negative things start to reinforce the emotions you have

Can you see it?

Do you finally understand?

You'll never achieve your dream of making an impact on the world, your family, or yourself if you don't take back what's yours.

Your emotions.

Update your hardware.

Here's a 3-step framework I use to re-program my mind, emotions, and hence, my actions... Once you apply this, you’ll be able to enjoy your work no matter what is going on. You’ll make better decisions. And finally, you’ll never fall into negativity cycles again.

1. Neutralization

What's your first reaction when you feel something negative?

You try escape it.

Don't lie to me...

You do EVERYTHING possible not to feel that emotion anymore (which usually leads to bad habits).

Instead, I want you to stare at it.

Watch it. Understand it. Comprehend it.

Stare at it until you are familiar with the feeling.

What will happen is it'll tansform into a neutral state.

You'll get so used to it, that you'll understand it for what it is.

AKA: A reaction you have control over.

Once it's in a neutral state (again, through placing your attention on the negative emotion for long enough)...

2. Slide into positive

Let's take a look at the principle of polarity that rules our universe...

The negative emotion you have isn't standalone. It isn't the opposite of a positive emotion. It's simply the other side of the same coin.

"The wound is the place where the Light enters you."

Rumi

All you need to do is slide up.

Negative, to neutral, to positive.

"Okay Euan... I know how to get to a neutral state, but how the hell do I go up to positive?"

Well... remember what I said earlier...

The reason you struggle to make progress is because you are emotionally dependant upon seeing reality change.

Here's a lil' process I do to get back into a positive field of emotions:

1. Close my eyes
2. Relax my body
3. Focus on my heart
4. Breath and relax into my heart
5. Bring my attention back there when it gets lost

As neuroscience has shows:

"Where you place your attention is where you place your energy."

Place your energy on your heart (from a state of neutrality), and you'll start to feel love, abundance, and gratefulness if you set that intention.

Try bringing those emotions up on your own.

And... realize that NOBODY else has access to your mind OR body... So who the h*ll has access to shifting your internal states other than yourself?

3. Taking action

Now... from this new state of awareness, I ask myself:

"What would my ideal self do?"

Then I do that.

I allow my intuition to tell me where to go, what to do, and how to do it.

I guarantee your intuition will do the same.

Trust yourself (but only from a higher state of vibration).

Now you have a step-by-step framework to exit your rut.

Don't think this is easy...

It takes A LOT of self-awareness.

But I have no doubt in my mind that you'll achieve this. Because you ARE the person who will achieve great things. You HAVE everything to do it.
